Who Is The Best Spinner In The World? Muralitharan, Sachin Tendulkar, and Brad Hogg Reply!

Who Is The Best Spinner In The World

The international circuit has seen many spinners taking their careers to the next level, and at the same time, their teams as well. In this article, we take a look at three legendary cricketers who found up and coming stars who may follow in their path, calling them the best spinner in the world

According To 3 Legends, This Is The Best Spinner In The World

Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan named Ashwin the best spinner in the world:

Ravichandran Ashwin broke the record of Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee by becoming the fastest to 300 Test wickets in the Nagpur Test against Sri Lanka. With this Ashwin became the 5th Indian and 31st bowler in the world to take 300 wickets in Test cricket.

In 2016, Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest Indian bowler by taking the wicket of Kane Williamson on the fourth day of the India-New Zealand Test match. If we talk about world cricket, Ashwin is second only to Australian bowler CV Grimmett, who crossed the 200-wicket mark in just 36 matches. Grimmett achieved this record in the match against South Africa. Grimmett has played only 37 matches in which he has taken 216 wickets. Apart from this, Waqar Younis, Danius Lillee, Dale Steyn, and Legends like Sir Ian Botham and Muttiah Muralitharan have also made it to the list.

As we cricket fans know, Muralitharan has taken a record 800 wickets in 133 Test matches for Sri Lanka. Congratulating Ashwin for his achievement, Muralitharan said, “I want to congratulate Ashwin. Taking 300 wickets in Tests is a big achievement and it is not an easy task. He is definitely the best spinner in the world at the moment. While Australia’s Lillee completed his 300 wickets in 56 Tests, Ashwin completed 300 wickets in 54 Tests.

Asked if Ashwin can break his record, the veteran spinner Muralitharan said, “Ashwin is 31-32 years old now and he can play cricket for at least 4-5 more years. However, it will depend on how he performs in the future and his fitness level”.

Why was Ashwin regarded as the best spinner in the world?

By the third day of the Kanpur Test, Ashwin had crossed the 197 mark. At the start of the match, Ashwin first got Martin Guptill caught by Murali Vijay. After that Tom Latham was sent LBW back to the pavilion. After this Ashwin was seen struggling for a long time. Even after appealing several times, he did not get success. Eventually, on the fifth ball of the 17th over, Ashwin dismissed Captain Williamson and reached this record in Test cricket. Ashwin, who came into the limelight from T20, had taken 9 wickets in his very first Test match and showed that he has the ability to play Test cricket. Ashwin has taken a total of 200 wickets in Tests at an average of 25.20.

Ashwin became one of the highest wicket-takers in the Indian Test team. Ravindra Jadeja has taken 138 wickets after Ashwin. Over the years, Ashwin has emerged as the leading bowler of the Indian team. Also, Ashwin has taken the team out of difficult situations with his batting many times. This is the reason why Dhoni always gives Ashwin a place in the team, be it Test, ODI or T20 and this is also understood by Test captain Kohli. He knows that Ashwin is the trump card for the team which goes in any case.

According to Sachin Tendulkar, Rashid Khan is the best spinner in the world:

Rashid Khan, who single-handedly led Sunrisers Hyderabad to the final of IPL 2018, played a brilliant game against Calcutta Knight Riders, scoring an innings of lightning-fast 34 runs and then guided 4 important batsmen of the opposing team to the pavilion.

The great Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has called him the best spinner in the world in short-style cricket due to the brilliant performance of Rashid Khan from Afghanistan. Through Twitter, he encouraged Rashid Khan saying: “I used to think Rashid Khan was a good spinner but now I have no hesitation in saying that he is the best spinner in the world in T20-style cricket”.

Why was Rashid Khan regarded as the best spinner in the world?

During his career, the Afghan played an unbeaten 34 off just 10 balls to guide the team to a remarkable total of 174 runs, which seemed impossible just a few overs ago. In reply, Calcutta Knight Riders started aggressively chasing the target and the match tilted in their favor in the opening overs. On such occasions, Rashid Khan came to the fore once again and dismissed three rival batsmen including Chris Line, Robin Uthappa,  and Andre Russell. After losing important wickets one after another, the Calcutta team could not recover and in the final over, Rashid Khan dismissed Shivam Mavi and put the last nail in the coffin of Calcutta.

Brad Hogg considered Yuzvendra Chahal the best spinner in the world:

Both Brad Hogg and Graeme Swann say Yuzvendra Chahal is a key bowler for India!

Why was Yuzvendra Chahal regarded as the best spinner in the world?

Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg and the former England spinner G Swann praised Team India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who is showing excellent bowling performance in 2022.

So he said that Yuzvendra Chahal is the key bowler for the Indian team in the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup tournament. Chahal, who was playing in the ODI series against England, showed how leg spin is very effective in T20 cricket.

Yuzvendra Chahal failed to get a place in the Indian team for the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup tournament hosted by UAE and Oman. After that, he bowled the best for Rajasthan Royals in the 2022 IPL tournament and won the purple cap. By that, he made a comeback to Team India.
