Cricketer Finn Allen was born on 22 April 1999 in Auckland, New Zealand. His full name is Finlay Hugh Allen. Finn Allen’s father is Darren Allen and his mother’s name is Leanne Allen. He has a brother, Jordan Allen.

Finn Allen received his early education in his hometown Auckland. He completed his schooling from St. Kentigern High School in Auckland. After this, he obtained a bachelor’s degree from St. Kentigern College, Auckland.

Finn Allen was picked up by the IPL’s Royal Challengers Bangalore team after the IPL 2021 auction. However, Finn Allen wasn’t bought in the auction and was chosen as a replacement for the injured Joshua Phillipe. The Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him in the iPL 2022 auction for Rs. 80 lakhs. However, he didn’t play a single game for the team. Finn Allen unfortunately went unsold during the IPL 2024 auction.

Finn Allen had a stellar junior cricket career

Finn Allen grew up obsessed with cricket and picked the bat up during his school days. Finn Allen’s serious cricket career started when he was selected to Auckland’s junior team. In 2015, Finn Allen was selected for Auckland’s under-17 team. Later he got a chance to play in the Auckland Under-19 team. Was included in the New Zealand squad for the 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup. Allen captained the New Zealand Under-19 team in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup.

Finn Allen had a stellar U-19 World Cup

During the U-19 World Cup, Finn Allen played a brilliant century of 115 runs in his first match against West Indies. Allen scored 90 against Kenya and scored a half-century in just 19 balls, jointly the second fastest half-century in Under-19 ODI history. Also, he played an innings of 87 runs against England. He became New Zealand’s top scorer in the tournament with 338 runs.

Finn Allen made his T20 debut in 2017

On 3 January 2017, Finn Allen made his T20 debut for Central Districts against Auckland in the 2016–17 Super Smash. However, in that match, he was out for just five runs. Allen then made his List A debut for Auckland against Central Districts in The Ford Trophy on 17 February 2018. In which he was run out after scoring 5 runs. Finn Allen made his first-class debut for Auckland in the Plunket Shield against Central Districts on 9 March 2018. In his first first-class match, he scored 36 runs in two innings. 

Finn Allen was called up for the senior New Zealand squad in 2018

In September 2018, he was included in the Auckland Aces squad for the Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. He scored an unbeaten century for the New Zealand XI against England in a tour match in November 2019. However, he rapidly improved his game and was the leading run-scorer in the 2020–2021 Dream11 Super Smash tournament. He scored 512 runs at a strike rate of 18 in 11 matches for the Wellington Firebirds in the tournament. He performed brilliantly in the tournament, after which he got a chance to play in the New Zealand cricket team.
